This Denver Public Schools project focused on the exterior renovation and rehabilitation of Denver’s historic North High School. The once-magnificent brick, terra-cotta and sandstone veneer was badly deteriorated and most of the wood windows and doors had been replaced with non-sympathetic, poor quality products.
Originally specified and bid with aluminum clad, wood windows, WCG determined that stringent DPS wind-load standards, combined with the need to meet Denver Landmark’s guidelines for window replacement could only be met with custom-fabricated metal windows.
Other restoration activities included extant windows and doors, metal cornice, masonry and terra-cotta restoration, exterior paint, and roof repairs.
